Two Acre Books is a private lending library managed by Rebecca Miller and Amanda Downing since 2019. We live minutes apart in Spokane, WA, and we got our start from our large collection of books and years of combined homeschool experience.
Amanda and Rebecca, neighbors since 2017 and friends years before, have been homeschooling their respective children since 2013. They share a strong Catholic faith, a commitment to homeschooling and a love of books. After years of searching out quality books and exploring various curriculum, they launched Two Acre Books as way to help other parents and families discover living books and further the education and love of reading for their children.
Rebecca Miller
Rebecca was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to the Seattle area when she was 11 years old. After graduating with a degree in business and finance from the University of Washington, Rebecca worked as a financial advisor for two years before leaving to start her own financial services business. Since having children, Rebecca has been fortunate enough to stay home to raise and homeschool her seven children. Two Acre Books has been a much-needed outlet for Rebecca that combines her love of business and love of books.
Amanda Downing
Amanda was born and raised in Alaska, moving to Washington state in 2001. After graduating from the University of Alaska, she worked for years as an executive assistant for a realty investment company. With the birth of her first child in 2009, she made the decision to leave her corporate job and stay home to raise a family. Amanda homeschooled both her children through eighth grade. When she has free time, Amanda loves to read historical fiction and faith-based books, hiking and skiing with her family, and reading aloud to her kids. Two Acre Books has been the fulfillment of Amanda's secret dream of working in a library or bookstore.
Over the years, our private collection of books grew to be bigger than we ever expected. Following years of scouring books sales and buying several private collections, we felt called to share our resources with other families in our community. The barn on our logo is a real barn on the property where Two Acre Books got its start!
We started providing subscription boxes to families in Washington State in 2019. In 2020, we expanded our offering to include elementary subscription boxes and private library access. We have been overwhelmed with positive response and support and have found we are filling a much needed gap in the public schools and libraries. We currently serve families across Washington State and Northern Idaho.
